Dr. Thompson, Principal

Dr. Jared Thompson was named principal of Mallard Creek High School on June 19, 2023. Before joining The Creek, he served as principal of Carmel Middle School from 2020 to 2023 and as assistant principal from 2017 to 2020. Dr. Thompson was previously the dean of students at Ridge Road Middle School (2015–2017) and began his career as a teacher at Westerly Hills Academy (2013–2015).

Dr. Thompson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Lenoir-Rhyne University (2012), where he was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and a captain of the football team. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Executive Leadership (2016) and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (2019) from Gardner-Webb University.

Originally from Statesville, North Carolina, Dr. Thompson and his wife, Amanda, reside in the Mallard Creek community with their five-year-old son, Solomon, and their newborn daughter, Sophia.
